AAFP Physician Accreditation Physician Accreditation - This activity is reviewed for up to 12 Prescribed credits by the American Academy of Family Physicians. AAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association as equivalent to the AMA PRA equivalent to the AMA PRA category 1 credit toward the AMA Physicians Recognition Award. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Tuition Cancellations Must be confirmed in writing and 10% of paid tuition processing fee will be assessed. No refunds will be made if cancellation is made after Sept 20, 2010 however 50% of tuition fee may be applied to a future MCE conferences.
Program Objectives

OVERALL OBJECTIVES: The overall objective is to provide the participant with practical and clinically relevant information. Upon completion of this CME activity, the physician or healthcare provider should be able to describe the current approach to formulating differential diagnoses, diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive management of the various disciplines presented.

* “MRSA: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly” - Objectives: Participants will understand the current epidemiology of staphylococcal disease in the US, the role of colonization in disease pathogenesis, and strategies for prevention and treatment of staphylococcal disease.

*“FUO in Children” - Objectives: To discuss the definition of fever of unknown origin (FUO), the classifications of FUO, the most common etiologies of FUO, and the diagnostic work-up of patients with FUO.

*“Approach to the Child with Lymphadenopathy” - Objectives: Participants will learn a systematic approach to the outpatient evaluation and management of lymphadenopathy, with special emphasis on diagnostic considerations in children with normal ‘screening laboratory studies.’

*“Pediatric Immunizations 2010” - Objectives: To update participants on the latest recommendations for preventative vaccinations in adults and children, with emphasis on the most recently released vaccines, such as the human papilloma virus vaccine and varicella-zoster vaccine.

*“Influenza: Coming to a Patient Near You” - Objectives: To review endemic, epidemic and pandemic influenza (including emerging strains), their diagnoses and therapies.

*“Update on Kawasaki Disease” - Objectives: Participants will understand current hypotheses in disease pathogenesis, updates on diagnosis and treatment, and new interventions that may be on the horizon.

*“Identifying HIV and Viral Hepatitis in the Primary Care Setting” - Objectives: To familiarize participants with common presentations of acute HIV infection, AIDS, and acute and chronic viral hepatitis (including Hepatitis A, B, and C).

* “Vector-borne Illness” - Objectives: To discuss common arthropod-borne illnesses, their diagnoses and treatment.

* “AAP Red Book Update 2009” - Objectives: To update participants on new changes that have appeared in the 2009 Red Book and to discuss their respective diseases.
