If At First, You Don’t Succeed: Next Steps for Depression Treatment
Objectives: 1) Describe the etiology and epidemiology of treatment-resistant depression 2) Utilize medication switching strategies to optimize treatment of depression and patient outcomes 3) Implement the addition of adjunct medications to antidepressants for the treatment of resistant depression to improve outcomes in patients with partial response 4) Identify and manage possible bipolar disorder in treatment-resistant depression
Obesity in Children
Objectives: 1) Review the key points from the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Clinical Practice Guideline for the Evaluation and Treatment of Children and Adolescent with Obesity with emphasis on recommendations pertinent to the primary care setting 2) Discuss some of the more common comorbidities of children with obesity and how to screen for them 3) Review obesity prevention strategies, including dietary/feeding guidelines for children and youth as recommended by the USDA and Department of Health and Human Services
Vaccines: First a Review, Then What’s New
Objectives: 1) Review vaccine preventable infections through a photo identification exercise 2) Discuss the two new options for RSV prevention, such as maternal vaccination and monoclonal antibody injection for infants 3) Summarize recent changes regarding meningococcal and pneumococcal vaccines 4) Review the latest information about the COVID vaccine for children

New(ish) Asthma Guidelines: What’s New, What Stayed the Same
Objectives: 1) Review the pediatric pertinent National Institute of Health (NIH) Asthma Guidelines (2020), emphasizing what is new and what stayed the same from the previous guidelines (2007) 2) Utilize clinical cases to demonstrate application of the new guidelines, including SMART therapy 3) Discuss what’s known about short- and long-term side-effects of inhaled vs oral steroids, as well as the newer recommendations for utilizing dexamethasone vs prednisone for asthma flares
Updated Guidelines for Neonatal Hyperbilirubinemia: Avoiding Bilirubin Badness
Objectives: 1) Discuss risk factors for and complications of newborn hyperbilirubinemia per the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Updated Hyperbilirubinemia Guidelines (2022) 2) Utilize cases to review the updated recommendations for the assessment and treatment of jaundiced newborns 3) Review how to approach prolonged indirect hyperbilirubinemia and conjugated hyperbilirubinemia
Diagnosis and Management of ADHD
Objectives: 1) Describe how to diagnose ADHD in children, adolescents, and adults 2) Review screening and assessment tools that can be used to evaluate and monitor response to treatment 3) Determine how to prescribe FDA-approved medications for the treatment of ADHD 4) Identify alternative treatments for ADHD and educate patients about them
Eating Disorders
Objectives: 1) Describe the epidemiology and neurobiology of various eating disorders, including binge-eating disorder 2) Gain awareness of the psychiatric comorbidity with eating disorders and the risk for suicide 3) Implement evidence-based treatments for various eating disorders

Hips and Bones: Baby Hips, Little Feet and Twisty Bones
Objectives: 1) Discuss the most recent American Academy of Pediatrics’ Guidelines (2019) regarding developmental dysplasia of the hips 2) Differentiate between worrisome and non-worrisome pediatric foot deformities 3) Review the diagnosis and approach to common pediatric rotational and angular deformities

- Cancellation made 31 days or more prior to arrival: A full refund will be issued.
- Cancellation 30 days or less prior to arrival: No refunds will be issued.
- No-shows and early departures are considered a cancellation: No refunds will be issued.

Register & Book Your Lodging Early! The MCE reduced room rates will be available to registered attendees up until February 19, 2025 (based on availability). Our allotment for reduced room rates may sell out before this date. We urge you to secure your lodging reservation as early as possible. Reduced rates will also be offered 3 nights pre and post program dates (based on availability).
